The cost of adding solar panels to roofs dropped 10% over the past year, according to two new reports from the Department of Energy’s Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. While the price of the panels themselves has held steady for about four years, the installation price fell by 5%. Costs related to permitting have dropped about 5% as well, as states and cities have simplified the permitting process.
