Not many builders comply with the 2012 or 2015 International Energy Conservation Codes if their locale does not enforce it, even though efficiency of those structures can increase by 38 percent, Construction Dive reports.
So far, only thirteen states and Washington, D.C., have adopted the code into their own, along with many local jurisdictions throughout the country.
