Gains in home prices help create jobs at startup companies, according to a Reuters report, citing a correlation between jobs at startups and declining house prices. The equity required to start a business is often higher than the home equity loans homeowners can receive if they purchase a lower-priced home. As home price gains begin to level off, this may slow the creation of new businesses.
