Approximately 20 percent of the homes Lennar builds in Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio are priced below $200,000, but Lennar’s Chief Executive Stuart Miller notes that the first-time buyer market has not really come back yet.
Miller tells National Mortgage News that the barriers to getting a mortgage are high, and that the process has become “very invasive” and “almost designed to scare people away.”
