Meyers Research to host building industry forecast event

The market research firm seeks to engage housing and economic leaders in an educational forum on Sept. 4, with proceeds to support industry-based solutions for homelessness in America.

August 5, 2014

Meyers Research, a Kennedy Wilson company providing the housing industry with a national perspective and local expertise, will host its Building Industry Forecast for D.C. Metro event at the Fairview Marriott in Falls Church, Va., on Sept. 4, 2014, with all proceeds benefitting HomeAid America.

The half-day fundraising and educational forum will engage the industry’s leading economists and experts, including an elite executive panel that was involved in the largest private and public sector deals from 2013, to discuss the current and future state of the homebuilding industry, while investing in and elevating HomeAid America’s mission to help the industry provide housing for the nation’s homeless.

“Meyers Research is honored to provide a platform that brings together the industry’s leading executives to celebrate the incredible efforts of this important industry-based cause,” said Jeff Meyers, president of Meyers Research. “Homebuilding is the crux of our profession and we’re humbled by the industry’s support of HomeAid America, whose sole mission is to help homeless families and individuals rebuild their lives.”

Moderated by Jeff Meyers, president at Meyers Research, the Building Industry Forecast for D.C. Metro will lead industry executives and economists in three interactive sessions, providing various perspectives on the challenges and opportunities impacting the homebuilding industry in 2014 and beyond, including economic recovery, the public and private home-building sector, and the role of capital markets in today’s housing landscape. Meyers Research Building Industry Forecast for D.C. Metro highlights include:

Employment improvements in high-barrier-to-entry markets
Improving overall economy and solid housing resale market
New-home sales in early phases of cycle due to limited supply levels
Rising mortgage rates cause new-home price appreciation to level off
Some tertiary markets still bogged down by defaults and foreclosures

Featured industry panelists will include Steve Alloy, president at Stanley Martin Homes; David Deal, vice president at NV Homes; Rick Rabil, CEO and president at Van Metre Companies; Alan Shapiro, president at Winchester Homes (TRI Pointe Homes); Steve Friedman, national director, Homebuilding Services at Ernst & Young; Carolyn Alexander, senior vice president at Texas Capital; Peter Fioretti , CEO at Mountain Real Estate Capital; Dan Green, principal at Wheelock Street Capital; Alexandra Johns, senior vice president at The Resmark Companies; and Ken Gear, CEO at Leading Builders of America.

“As HomeAid celebrates our 25th anniversary in 2014, we’re overwhelmed by the continued support of Meyers Research and the home-building community as a whole. Without their generosity, we wouldn’t be able to provide housing solutions for the millions of homeless individuals and families in need,” said Peter Simons, CEO for HomeAid America. “The Building Industry Forecast for D.C. Metro will afford us the opportunity to build on our renewed strength and continue giving back to the community on behalf of builders and their trade partners for years to come.”
