Both PACE and HERO are programs that homeowners can use to afford the latest advances in efficient home equipment and features. The programs, backed by bonds, are expected to lower homeowners’ water and energy bills by more than $298 million over the useful lifetime of the products installed. Home buyers are willing to pay $11,000 more for a home if would decrease their utility costs, according to a Renovate America spokesman.
