The city council in Allen, Texas voted to continue limits on solar panels that restrict homeowners from placing them where they are visible from the street in the front of homes. The divisive rule does allow panels to be placed on side- and back-facing roofs. The city council also amended the ordinance to allow for ground-mounted panels in backyards and panels on accessory structures such as patio covers.
