Solely relying on the Internet of Things – when daily “dumb” objects become connected to the internet – won’t make your home a smart one. But Apple plans to change that.
 
When iOS 8 comes out next month, Fast Co. Labs reports, it will come with HomeKit, a developer framework built by Apple to connect all the devices and unify it around one iOS, so that there is seamless communication between each of a home’s connected devices, offering the homeowner the convenience of accessing everything through one interface.
