The best place for tech industry employees may not be the stereotypically technology-heavy areas on the West coast. Other U.S. cities with growing tech industries prove to be much more affordable.
Smartasset compiled a list of the best cities for tech jobs by considering the percent of workers employed in tech, the ratio of the average tech salary to the average salary across all fields, the cost of living, the unemployment rate, and the average salary for tech workers.
Topping the list was Columbus, Ohio, where tech workers are paid 1.82 percent more than the average worker. The study also found that six of the top ten cities are in the southern U.S., with three landing in Texas alone.
