Some 30% of builders in a Consumer Electronics Association survey said prewiring homes for home theater and monitored security would boost their profit potential, and one in three builders said installing home technologies increased their revenues in 2014.
Security and convenience are the primary drivers for smart home technology, but cost savings from more efficient use of energy is also a key consideration.
