A new, three-bedroom modular home built in Michigan's Allendale Township was asked to be taken down, after neighbors complained that they did not want a non-traditional home in their neighborhood, says Allendale Township Supervisor Adam Elenbaas.
While the home was issued the proper permits, and the township has no restrictions against modular homes, the community reaction prompted calls to remove the modular home and replace it with a stick-built home, "in better conformity with the neighborhood," per MLive's reporting.
But on Oct. 16, [the builder] announced that his negotiations with the developer had proved successful. "It is going to stay," Moran said. "It is set in stone; everything's signed off."
He did not explain why the developer changed his mind, and said he did not pay any settlement money to Koster. Koster could not be reached for comment.
