Smart home devices are getting more popular, but the home itself should be treated like one, according to Internet of Things neighborhood tech company Tri Cascade co-founder and CEO Max Li.
Li explains that homebuyers "have access to incremental smart home technology," that they source, install, and integrate via a variety of platforms, adding that builders should take this opportunity to meet smart home demands during the building process. Li offers five tips, including smart feature bundling: "Building in IoT features can transform a home into a truly smart device. Technology that communicates with every one of the home’s smart technology features and devices, serving as the Wi-Fi router and mesh network for its smart technology makes the home more efficient and keeps data costs down," per Proud Green Home.
Go green. With the home constructed as an effective smart device, lights and air temperature can be managed while outside the home, creating a future-focused, energy efficient neighborhood. Home builders can build a centralized-hub to manage all of the property’s products that rely on the energy grid, making it easier to be budget and earth-friendly with one all-encompassing smart device — the home.
