Google has warned the Mountain View (Calif.) City Council that unless plans to build 800,000 square feet of new office space on its Charleston East campus are approved, the construction of 9,850 units of housing on that property will not go forward. Nevertheless, Joe Van Belleghem, senior director of design and construction for the Bay Area at Google, reiterates the tech giant’s support for the North Bayshore housing development, which will include 1,600 affordable housing units.
