The Hearth, Patio & Barbecue Association Releases Its Top Trends For 2016

April 29, 2016

Is there anything that screams ‘summer’ more than relaxing on a patio with a cold beverage while the sizzle of meat and vegetables on the grill mixes with the buzzing cicadas in the trees to create the perfect summer afternoon soundtrack? It is a way that many of us love to spend a lazy Saturday afternoon in the summer. To help you help your customers have that experience, the Hearth, Patio & Barbecue Association has released its top trends for the hearth and barbecue industries for 2016, Products magazine reports.

One of the major trends is integrating smart technologies as more and more hearth and barbecue products are controlled by apps. Some outdoor fireplaces can use apps for temperature controls and grills can have propane tank monitoring systems available through integrated apps.

Unique and specialized accessories also are ready to explode in 2016. Things like pizza stones, fish/broiling baskets, cedar planks, and grill woks are some of the top accessories consumers are planning to purchase.

Additionally, as outdoor kitchens become more widespread, so will the desire to upgrade them. 10 percent of grill owners already have an outdoor kitchen that feature grills, furniture, lighting, and outdoor fireplaces and fire pits. Of this 10 percent, 35 percent say they are planning on upgrading in the next three years to an outdoor kitchen that includes more storage space, refrigerators, dishwashers, built-in sinks, bars, and food preparation areas.
