Home prices have risen by about 5% annually for the last two years and are approaching pre-financial crisis record highs. Houses are already more expensive than the peak years of the 2000s in seven out of 20 major cities. Mortgage debt on family homes for four people or less is 13% below the peak in 2008, so housing experts do not think a price crash is on the horizon.
