Detroit rose six spots this month to No. 4 in Realtor.com’s ranking of the nation’s hottest housing markets, based on buyer activity. It’s the first time Detroit has been in the top five since October 2013.
The rest of the top slots included mainstays such as Vallejo, Calif., which remained first, San Jose, San Francisco, Stockton, Calif., and Kennewick, Wash.
Realtor.com expects 500,000 new listings to go on the market by the end of this month, the largest increase since March 2016. The median listing price was $275,000 this month, same as July, and 10 percent higher than a year ago.
