The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) believes the Republican plan, if enacted, will be a boon to homebuilders and the overall economy, while the National Association of Realtors (NAR) says the proposal could be onerous to millions of American homeowners. For homebuilders, the retention of the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit and a few small business deductions may ameliorate the tax burden on builders of affordable rental housing. However, the plan may eliminate certain deductions and incentives that incentivize buying a home.
