California dominates the list of hottest housing markets for January 2016

January is always a bit of a dreary month. The holidays are over and the weather is often less than nice. The real estate market typically suffers from the doldrums as well, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t signs of life.

Realtor.com reports that the amount of traffic, searches, and listing views in January are a good precursor for a strong spring. And there are some housing markets that are beating the January blues with listings that are viewed two to five times more often than the national average and houses that move 30 to 50 days more quickly than the rest of the U.S.

California is home to over half of the top 20 list, including the number one spot, as San Francisco is once again at the top of the list. Nashville has come through as a bit of a surprise, moving up six spots and settling in at the seventh spot on the list.
