The Unity Homes model home was recognized as the Best of Show at Greenbuild in November. Tree Hugger’s Lloyd Alter examined what he found most appealing about the model.

Unity Homes uses a mix of panelized and modular construction, and it employs an Open Built concept, which takes into account the function and usable life of site, structure, skin, space plan, systems, and “stuff,” according to custom building company owner Tedd Benson.

The homes also have a timberframe structure made from engineered wood that will last hundreds of years.
