This week, Invitation Homes and Starwood Waypoint Homes announced plans to merge, a move that will create the nation’s largest single-family rental landlord, according to HousingWire.
Invitation Homes owns and operates roughly 50,000 homes in 13 markets across the country, and Starwood Waypoint Homes has a portfolio of 32,000 homes.
The combined company will operate as Invitation Homes after the merger, which is expected to close by the end of 2017.
Starwood Waypoint is the result of a merger itself. Starwood Waypoint Residential Trust merged with fellow rental home giant Colony American Homes in early 2016.
