The new 2010 Florida Building Code that goes into effect March 15 contains the greatest changes in the way buildings are designed, constructed, or remodeled since the implementation of the statewide building code in 2002. The new 2010 code establishes minimum design and construction requirements to protect buildings from wind, rain, floods, and storm surges.
