A new study by WalletHub ranks U.S. cities by "dating-friendliness" to find the best places for American singles. Scores were based on economics, fun and recreation, and dating opportunities.

At the top of the list was Atlanta with the best overall score. The ATL ranked second-best in dating opportunities, and ninth for fun and recreation options. Denver, San Francisco, Portland, Ore., and Los Angeles rounded out the top five, CNBC reports. Interestingly, the city with the best economics score was Cape Coral, Fla., though it ranked 168th overall due to lower fun and recreation and dating opportunities scores. New York City ranked first in fun and recreation, and 28th overall, while Burlington, Vt. had the best dating opportunities score, while ranking 24th overall.

For its study, WalletHub looked at 182 U.S. cities — including 150 of the most populated U.S. cities plus at least two of the most populated cities in each state — analyzing them across three dimensions: economics, fun and recreation and dating opportunities. Those dimensions were evaluated using 34 relevant metrics including things like job growth rate, overall well-being index, nightlife options per capita, weather and most active Tinder users.
