Surge in U.S. Construction Spending Near Six-and-a-Half Year High

Construction spending has increased by 2.2 percent to an annual rate of $1.0 trillion in April, Reuters reports.

The numbers mark a high in nearly 6-1/2 years, and analysts see it as a sign of pockets of strength in the economy.
