Lawn Love recently ranked the "Best and Worst Cities for Vampires" in 2023, aiming to encourage blood donations during a national shortage. The ranking analyzed the 500 largest U.S. cities across five categories, including factors such as the availability of blood centers, casket suppliers, and vampire-friendly dwellings.
Among all metro areas, New York secured the top spot with 23 blood donation centers, followed by cities such as Chicago and Philadelphia, known for their abundant potential "victims" (blood donors) and higher-than-average share of blood donation centers. Cities in New England and the Midwest were also high-ranking Transylvania alternatives, due to fewer sunshine hours and an abundance of "underground lairs" (basements), making them ideal for the vampire community, Lawn Love reports.
