Moderated by Girls Who Code founder Reshma Saujani, a panel of four female business leaders shared their strategies for fostering trust in an evolving business landscape at Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Summit in California. The women discussed a wide range of business management topics, from learning to appeal to a Gen Z workforce to taking Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) more seriously to create a healthy culture internally, Fortune reports.

The panel conversation addressed a recent “Trust Barometer” survey conducted by global communications firm Edelman, which revealed a huge drop in employee trust among institutions, something which all panelists agreed can be mended with representation and more clear communication from employers.

“Everyone’s on the precipice of a transformation,” Chief Communications Officer at Ariel Investments, Arielle Patrick said. “So either we’re trying to reestablish trust where it’s been lost, or try to maintain it the best we can where it’s already there.”

“If you don’t have a healthy culture internally, it’s the Achilles heel, it will take you down,” she said. “If you’re not focused on that, if you’re not looking inside before looking outside, you will be very vulnerable.”
