Homebuyer Confidence Declines in September

The share of consumers who think now is a good time to buy a home fell five percent in September, according to Fannie Mae’s HPSI survey, which tracks monthly housing sentiment. Doug Duncan, chief economist for Fannie Mae, says, “Housing seems to have hit a soft patch, with residential investment likely posting a second consecutive quarterly decline last quarter despite positive labor market and mortgage rate trends.”
