When searching for the best housing markets, a general rule of thumb would be to just travel north and west.
According to Housing Wire, nine of the top 10 Core Based Statistical Areas, as measured by Pro Teck Valuation Services, are in the vicinity of the Pacific Northwest. Bend-Redmond, Ore., Boise City, Idaho, and Seattle made the list. The remaining metro is Boulder, Colo.
The rankings were based on a combination of real estate market indicators, with sales and listing activity and prices, days on market, and sold-to-list price ratio among them.
Joplin, Mo., Lake County-Kenosha County Ill.-Wis., and Midland, Texas, are among the lowest-performing 10 CBSAs.
