Soffit Vent / Panasonic

The EZ Soffit Vent from Panasonic (shown, above) is a Home Ventilation Institute–certified soffit termination system that enables ducting to be completed before soffit installation, reducing callbacks related to poor airflow and water intrusion at roof and wall terminations. The vent can be rotated to align with ductwork. A low-resistance back damper eliminates drafts and improves blower-door test results.

Ductless System / Mitsubishi Electric Cooling & Heating

Mitsubishi’s Zoned Comfort Solutions require less ductwork and provide more filtration points to improve air quality compared with central air systems, the company says. The New American Home 2019 featured 12 zones powered by three outdoor units controlled by a mobile device app or central automation panel. Indoor units and air handlers in each zone control temperature and humidity.

Thin-Profile Furnaces / Goodman Manufacturing

Space-constrained installations now have a solution: Goodman Manufacturing’s three models of 14-inch-wide gas furnaces. The GMEC96 is a 100,000 Btu-rated two-stage gas furnace, and the GMSS96 is a single-stage, multispeed gas furnace rated at 40,000 Btu, as is the GMSS92, which has a 92% annual fuel utilization efficiency rating.

Heating and Cooling / Goodman Manufacturing

Goodman has been making air conditioners, heat pumps, gas furnaces, ductless systems, and temperature controls in the U.S. since 1982. Unique features include: the industry’s only dual-diameter, tubular gas furnace heat exchanger; the SmartCoil condensing coil in Goodman’s air conditioners and heat pumps; all-aluminum evaporator coils; and the ComfortNet Communicating Control system.

Ventilation Fans / Panasonic

Panasonic’s ECM-motored fans are engineered to be powerful enough to remove poor indoor air, meet code, and deliver healthy homes. When fan models such as WhisperGreen, Whisper Fresh, and Whisper Ceiling sense static pressure, fan speed automatically increases to ensure optimal cubic foot per minute output. The fans are Energy Star for Homes 4.0 certified.
