Floating Stairs / Viewrail 

At its manufacturing facility in Goshen, Ind., Viewrail makes straight (shown, above), 90-degree, and switchback open-concept stairs with cable, glass, and rod railing systems. Stainless steel stringers can be customized to length, and treads are available in more than 15 wood species, including walnut, oak, African mahogany, red oak, ipe, and Brazilian cherry, varying in width from 36 inches to 72 inches.

Thin Brick / Meridian Brick

Meridian Brick’s Authintic is a fired clay brick for interior and exterior applications that is easier to transport, handle, and install because it is 5/8-inch thick and weighs 70% less than a typical modular brick. Authintic comes in 39 colors and is available in queen- and king-size brick sizes.

Flooring / Country Wood Flooring

The Oceanside Collection of wood plastic core and stone plastic core waterproof engineered vinyl flooring employs patented rigid-core construction along with the Uniclic system, featuring realistic wood beauty, comfort, quiet, and stability. Three tiers of the Oceanside Collection—Original, Plus, and Pro—are available in a variety of colors with an embossed surface and matte finish.

Floor Warming Systems / Emerson Electric

Emerson’s Warm Tiles systems provide gentle, continuous warmth using electric cable or premade mats that can be installed over plywood, concrete, or cement backer board subflooring. The cables or mats can be embedded in thinset or self-leveling underlayment, making the systems suitable for both new construction and remodeling. Manual and programmable thermostats also are available.

Dust Management / Husqvarna

Husqvarna’s portable dust extractors are equipped with HEPA filters and air scrubbers to help builders comply with OSHA’s crystalline silica rule and create a safer workplace. Dry cutting/drilling concrete, brick, and similar building materials with an integrated dust collection device captures dust directly at the source, while the surrounding air is filtered through an air scrubber six to 10 times per hour.

Paint / Sherwin-Williams

The Builders Solution two-coat system includes a Surfacer to mask drywall imperfections and a latex Topcoat for touch-up and washability. To­gether they deliver a higher-quality finish than two coats of traditional paint, the company says. Also new is Interior Latex with Accu­Touch Technology, which promises a uniform finish and excellent touch-up and enhanced durability.

Stone Veneer / Environmental Stoneworks

Barn Wood, Grezzo, Ripiano, and Clean Brick are the newest styles and colors joining Environmental Stoneworks’ line of stone veneer. Barn Wood (shown) captures wood-carved profiles molded from antebellum tobacco barns in Virginia. The other new styles align with design trends such as urban contemporary, modern prairie, modern farmhouse, and contemporary architectural.
