Composite Decking / Deckorators

Deckorators has added a third color, Ciderhouse (shown, above), to its popular Heritage line of composite decking. With a light brown hue and distressed embossing, Ciderhouse has the rustic look and feel of distressed hardwood. The decking is available in 12-, 16-, and 20-foot solid and slotted-edge profiles, along with fascia, and is covered by a 25-year structural, stain-and-fade, and removal-and-replacement limited warranty.  

New Decking Colors / Trex

In a refresh, Trex now offers its Transcend decking line with the Earth Tones collection of colors: Fire Pit (shown, top), Gravel Path, Rope Swing, Tree House, and Vintage Lantern (shown, bottom). The decking also includes a new grain pattern to appear more like natural, refined wood. The collection is covered by a 25-year limited residential fade and stain warranty.

Water Management System / Azek

Azek’s DrySpace under-deck water management system now comes in white to help brighten under-deck areas. Ideal for second-story decks, the system rechannels water under the deck boards. DrySpace can be used with Azek and TimberTech decking; kits are available for 12-inch on-center spans in 12-foot lengths and for 16-inch on-center spans in 12- and 16-foot lengths.

Custom Edging / Coyote Landscape Products

Coyote Landscape Products creates custom products to meet specific project requirements, including steel edging for curves or intersecting pathways of any size or configuration. For residential applications, Eco Edge is a powder-coated steel edging; Terra Edge is an economical, plated-steel offering; Raw Edge is unfinished steel to provide a natural look; and Perfect Edge is designed to allow drainage from the soil.

Composite Decking / Green Bay Decking 

Available in three colors, Optima Deck from Green Bay Decking has the densest substrate in the industry, the lowest moisture absorption of any composite or PVC decking, and the highest stability in extreme freeze-thaw cycles, the company says. A proprietary dual-embossed finish offers a wood look surface with slip resistance.

Porch Ceilings / Versatex

Versatex Building Products has added a fourth realistic wood-tone finish, Amber, to its Canvas Series of premium PVC surfaces for porch and veranda ceilings, though it is designed for both interior and exterior applications. The system includes a color-matched touch-up kit for use on butt joints and fastener marks. Versatex manufactures 1-by-6-inch WP4 profiles in 18-foot lengths.

TV Cabinet / Cabinet Tronix

Cabinet Tronix has launched 10 handmade outdoor TV lift cabinet designs, with multiple weatherproof material options for both the cabinet top and bottom, to seamlessly incorp­orate into a homeowner’s outdoor space. Materials include porcelain tile that mimics the look of wood, and Honey Natural Stacked Stone (shown). Each cabinet is fitted with a TV lift system and backed by a 10-year warranty.

Railing / Wolf Home Products  

Made in the U.S.A., the Wolf Distinction Railing line combines the look of real painted wood with durable, low-maintenance materials including aluminum-reinforced top and bottom rails. The railing features proprietary OptiBracket Technology; a single bracket that can be used in four configurations: 22.5 degrees, 45 degrees, flat, and stair. The railing comes with a limited lifetime warranty.

Keystone Hardscapes offers a complete line of hardscape products, from retaining walls to pavers and other outdoor-living elements ideal for patios, walkways, courtyards, driveways, and more. A wide range of colors, shapes, and sizes enables true custom applications, including curves and patterns. Permeable and interlocking pavers are also available.

Cabinet Line / Ideal Cabinetry

The WeatherStrong line from Ideal Cabinetry is an affordable solution for contractors to provide custom-designed exterior kitchen or interior garage cabinets. Designs are made in seven to 10 days and are shipped ready for installation. WeatherStrong cabinets come in four styles and are made in the U.S.A. of marine-grade waterproof polymer.

Decorative Connectors / Simpson Strong-Tie

Outdoor Accents decorative structural connectors from Simpson Strong-Tie provide both beauty and strength for outdoor projects using nominal and rough lumber sizes. The line features an innovative screw and washer combination that has the look of a traditional bolt but doesn’t require predrilling to ease installation; it also meets building codes for high-wind and seismic conditions. Available in a black powder-coated finish.

Conceal Kit / Feeney

Stainless steel and aluminum railing system manufacturer Feeney developed the Cable­Rail Conceal Kit for cust­om­ers seeking a stream­lined aesthetic. The end caps on the outside of the rail posts are thinner, with shorter fittings that are completely concealed within the post. The kit is available in prefabricated assembly lengths from 5 feet to 50 feet, in 5-foot increments.

Aluminum Railing / Trex

The Signature Aluminum Rod Rail from Trex offers commercially inspired design for residential applications, providing the view-optimized benefits of cable railing. With a choice of three color combinations: Black/Platinum, Bronze/Platinum, and Black/Black, Rod Rail can be customized with cocktail top-rail options. Deck Color Technology / Sherwin-Williams

Developed to decrease deck surface temperatures on new, weathered, previously stained wood, and some composite decking by up to 20° F, Sherwin-Williams adds Cool Feel color technology to its SuperDeck Solid Color Stain. Offered in 20 colors, including Juniper, Buckeye, Flint Gray, and Red Sierra, the stain resists scuffing and is formulated for damp surface applications.

Screening / Screen Tight 

The MeshGuard screening system from porch screening manufacturer Screen Tight has passed the International Code Council Evaluation Service review, meeting or exceeding all requirements for porch and deck guardrail infill applications—the first screening system to be approved for guardrail building codes. The MeshGuard system is picket-free for openings up to 6 by 3 feet.
