The American Society of Landscape Architects' recent trends survey included some new types of outdoor amenities that appeal to both single- and multifamily homeowners. This update to the survey resulted in some new entrants into the field of top 10 project types, among them flexible outdoor spaces for activities like yoga and outdoor movie nights.
Inspired by this renewed focus on the outdoors, Professional Builder's sister publication PRODUCTS provides a snapshot of what’s trending in outdoor and exterior products, from a new porcelain roof tile to decking that’s a dead ringer for wood.
The American Society of Landscape Architects’ 2018 trends survey identifies the three most popular outdoor design elements among respondents as: fire pits/fireplaces (66 percent), lighting (65 percent), and seating/dining areas (64 percent). In addition, homeowners are looking for flexible spaces where they can do yoga or relax and charge their phones.
