Recent analysis from SmartAsset ranked the nation’s most livable mid-sized cities. Highland’s Ranch, Colorado and Cary, North Carolina topped its list.
Cities in California and Colorado claimed six of the top 10 spots in the rankings. In addition to Highland’s Ranch, the list included Centennial and Arvada, Colorado, as well as Californian cities Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, and San Mateo. Meanwhile, four of the five least livable mid-sized cities were located in Connecticut.
SmartAsset set out to find places where homes were affordable and unemployment rates were low, but found that even in mid-sized cities the cost of living can be high. The average median housing cost across the top 10 cities is over $1,600 per month.
