Anchorage's New Energy-Efficient Homes

A new affordable housing project in Anchorage might bcome the first-ever energy net-positive, water net-zero building in Alaska.

A nonproft housing agency, RurAL CAP, will work with an architectural firm to create an ultira-energy efficient apartment building using solar and geothermal heat exchangers. The goals won't be easy to achieve in the sub-Arctic, however, even though the designers will be tapping Native traditional knowledge for their plans.
