“Bamboo is an amazing, amazing material,” says Zimmerman. “The built environment is the largest single contributor to global greenhouse gas emissions, and when you have the ability to input a material that allows you to continue to sequester, or carbon sink, into a durable good such as bamboo, [then] turning it into a panelized, structuralized form—you can make a huge carbon impact.”
