January Was The Best Month For Economic Confidence

Americans were more optimistic than pessimistic about the economy last month.

Gallup's U.S. Economic Confidence Index averaged +11 in January, the highest score in the nine-year trend. It was also the third straight month with a positive score.

Last month, 31 percent of Americans rated the economy as “excellent” or “good,” compared to 21 percent who said it was “poor.” Also, 52 percent of Americans said the economy was “getting better,” while 41 percent said it was “getting worse.”
