Gas Prices Contribute To A Large Increase In Consumer Inflation

The consumer price index, which measures the cost of living, rose by a seasonally adjusted 0.6 percent last month, the largest jump in four years.

MarketWatch reports that gas prices account for half of the increase in inflation. A gallon of gas is up to $2.30 from under $2 last spring.

Over the past year the consumer price index has climbed 2.5%, the biggest increase in a 12-month span in five years.
