Correlation Found Between Higher Rents And Poor Health

Zillow found that there is a correlation nationwide between higher median rents and a larger share of local residents in poor health. The theory is that the more people pay each month for rent, the less money there is to spend on healthcare.

The findings come from an analysis of rent affordability data from Zillow and health quality data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

On the flip side, households that spend less on rent usually have higher incomes, which means they have more access to better healthcare.
