New VOC regulations impacting roof installation now in effect
On Jan. 1, volatile organic compound (VOC) regulations took effect in several Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states, including Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island, as well as the District of Columbia. VOCs, found in adhesives and sealants used by the roofing industry, are regulated because high levels of VOC emissions may contribute to the formation of ground-level ozone.
