Idaho city considers making energy-efficient home guidelines mandatory

The city of Hailey, Idaho, is considering making mandatory its two-year-old voluntary Build Better program that provides extensive guidelines for building more energy-efficient homes.

The city of Hailey, Idaho, is considering making mandatory its two-year-old voluntary Build Better program that provides extensive guidelines for building more energy-efficient homes. The program calls for at least a 10 percent improvement in energy efficiency above the 2009 International Building Code requirements. The city council decided not to include remodels or additions in a proposed new ordinance.
