Renewable Energy Requirement In California Code Could Cost $15K To $45K
Dec. 2, 2016
In 2020, new California homes will be required to have some kind of renewable energy component such as PVs or a wind turbine. That could cost from $15,000 to $45,000 for a 2,500 sf home, according to a California Building Industry Association official. It is expected that most homes will opt for solar generation, and the existing Pacific Gas & Electric Co. power grid would function as a backup system.
