The Future Of Suburbs Are Impacted By Urbanization, Homeownership Rates, And Affordable Starter Houses
Dec. 7, 2016
The rising costs of building a house have pushed builders towards focusing on high-end homes where the profits are bigger. First-time buyers are seeing less affordable options.
Housing in the Evolving American Suburb, a report by the Urban Land Institute and RCLCO, found several trends that will shape the future of the suburbs. Curbed broke down the report.
The low rate of Millennial homeownership may lead to a housing market filled with older homes, which will depress prices. Suburbs will incorporate more urban amenities, like walkable neighborhoods and mass transit connections, to cater to both young and old buyers. Green features like autonomous cars and solar systems will become more prevalent.
