AI Usage Becomes Increasingly Common for Housing Industry Pros
Artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming more commonplace in the housing industry, with more design and construction professionals using it to streamline their projects. In its U.S. State of AI in Construction and Design report, home remodeling and design platform Houzz recently surveyed more than 700 businesses to find out how they are implementing AI into their work.
The expansion of AI is growing, with most survey respondents saying they have some level of familiarity with the technology. Only 23% of those surveyed say they’re not very familiar with AI, and just 8% say they have no exposure to AI at all.
AI adoption is still in the early stages
While many are familiar with AI and how it can be used in their businesses, just 34% say they are using AI in their practice. On the other hand, 66% say they currently do not use the technology.
For just construction professionals, 32% say they already use AI tools, while 68% say they have yet to adopt the technology. The figures are similar for design pros. Of the design pros surveyed, 31% say they already use AI tools, but for larger design firms, that number grows to nearly 50%
How is AI adoption impacting productivity?
For the housing pros who have adopted AI, 34% say they save an average of one to three hours per week, and 45% say they save three or more hours per week with AI. But the technology saves more than just time; it also saves money. Through the streamlining of tasks, the report estimates savings of approximately $108,000 per firm.
