According to the Census Bureau, 1,807 counties and county equivalents saw an increase in the number of single-family building permits issued in 2013 from the previous year, while 856 reported a decrease. More than 800 counties and their equivalents saw an increase in multifamily permits, 675 saw a decrease, and 1,479 saw no activity.
