Techniques to Reduce Waste at Construction Sites Gain Favor

Five new methods are attracting attention

Although much of the work in sustainability is focused on reducing demand for energy and water, another notable area is the development of construction techniques and materials acquisition that reduce waste, energy, and inefficiencies at building sites. At least five ways to reduce construction waste have emerged: prefabrication, single-stream recycling, silt fencing to reduce storm water runoff, lean manufacturing techniques, and increased use of recycled materials.
