The Elliott

Historic elegance, luxurious touches, and a modern floorplan create a custom home on the Gulf Coast

By Susan Bady, Senior Contributing Editor | September 10, 2015

The Elliott evokes New Orleans style in a home that is one block from the beach in Gulfport, Miss. The painted brick and large covered porch are reminiscent of homes in the French Quarter, with shutters that accent arched windows and the solid iron entry door.

Understated elegance is conveyed by the interior finishes, which include solid, reclaimed wood flooring in a light finish that complements the beachfront setting. In the family room, a 90-inch-wide, LED electric fireplace creates a focal point. The kitchen has white, solid-wood custom cabinets; granite countertops; and a farmhouse sink, while the first-floor master suite has a grand coffered ceiling and a walnut door overlooking a private patio.

Off the kitchen, a breezeway connects the main home to the guest quarters, which are equipped with a kitchenette; a large bath with a fully tiled, walk-in shower; a sitting room; and a bedroom.
