Employment Finished Strong in December

Payroll employment rose by 252,000 in December while the unemployment rate dropped to 5.6 percent, according to a report by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Employment gains during the last month of 2014 means that the unemployment rate is 1.1 percentage point below what is was in December 2013 and just above what the Federal Reserve considers normal.
