Fannie Mae and the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) recently began programs to make photovoltaic panels more affordable for homeowners.

Fannie Mae is offering the lowest cost of capital for new solar installations to date. Previously, HUD began financing new solar installations within a first mortgage transaction.
