Rather than focusing solely on financial ROI in home renovation, homeowners are increasingly taking on remodeling projects that offer priceless personal benefits. With a rising focus on wellness, homeowners are testing out new technology like indoor air quality systems and are paying closer attention to the chemicals and materials going into their home renovations, Forbes reports.

In order to simplify home chores, homeowners are relying on smarter appliances with a range of user capabilities, and to create more relaxing spaces to unwind, many are also investing in their bathrooms to create at-home spas.

[Caroline] Danielson points to appliances as one category where technology has always been a trending topic; lately it’s been heavily focused on wellness. “From steam ovens that allow homeowners to effortlessly prepare healthy meals to high-capacity, sanitizing dishwashers with settings to eliminate 99.999% of food soil bacteria by adding a high-heat final rinse to sanitize dishes, appliance technology is becoming more sophisticated.”
