Perry Bigelow, founder of Bigelow Homes, passed away on July 4th after dedicating much of his life to serving the home building community and advocating for sustainability and affordability. In 2005, Bigelow Homes was awarded “Builder of the Year” by Professional Builder for outstanding work and replicable ideas for progress in the home building industry. Perry was considered one of the world’s leading experts on residential energy conservation and is perhaps best known for his fulfilled promise to guarantee heating bills on his homes throughout Chicagoland for the last 25 years.

Michigan born and Florida raised, he received a B. A. in Mathematics from Taylor University and a B. S. in Civil Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology and later earned a Master of Business Administration from Ohio State University. Perry was a member of the Board of Directors of the Energy Environmental Building Association and an Adjunct Professor of Housing and Urban Development at Eastern University Graduate School of Business.
