Charles Sheron, Chairman of the Atlanta-based Sheron Group, is convinced that the Internet is not just the tool of the future, it is also one of the most important tools builders can use today. People in every business are realizing this, but builders, he says, are reluctant to throw search engines and websites into the toolbox along with hammers and nails. "Old habits die hard with these people--it takes a lot to get them to change."
Email, which he checks at least five times a day, keeps him in touch with countless people, and the self-proclaimed "Internet junkie" surfs the Web for new products, checks out technology, shops for land and looks up vendors, lenders and real estate contacts online. Although he prefers to place orders the old fashioned way, he's certain that soon all the bugs will be worked out so that virtually all transactions with vendors can be done online.
"I don't do this begrudgingly," he says. "I do it because it works."
